“I never went to film school; I just learned how to draw. From here, I became a music video director. I’ll take you on a journey through my career from homemade hand-drawn animation to creating psychedelic music videos and TV commercials. How I learned that it’s par-for-the-course to have (often huge) gaps in knowledge in the industry, and how I believe ‘figuring it out’ is the most commonly used key to success.”
– David Wilson

David Wilson is a queer director specialising in work that is often radical, subversive, and goes against the grain.

David’s career spans over 15 years of working in advertising and music video, creating work for artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Tame Impala, Lady Gaga, David Guetta, Sia, Christine and the Queens, Glass Animals, and Metronomy, to name just a few.

David’s work often over-spills from commercial work to self-initiated projects such as critically acclaimed short film, Deep Clean; a dance piece depicting a man self- pleasuring himself via anal stimulation (starring Harry Clayton-Wright). Along his varied career path, David’s picked up multiple acclaim including being named ‘Best Director’ at the UK Music Video Awards, and gaining a much coveted Grammy Nomination for his 2014 music video for Arcade Fire ‘We Exist’.
